State Gardens is a nursery thats also a farm house for a family based out of
Mumbai. The Client here was a 80 year old Grandfatherly figure who was very proud of his nursery. His daughter found our work done in Kosher resonating well with the image she had for the houses renovation.
The arrival to the gardens is through the creveses of the platueaus in karjat,
the small town that seems forgotten yet is so lively. You pass through the busy
markets and arrive to vastness of the region which is so green.
Its only amplified once you are in the Nursery where you greet with the lushness of the bio diversity. The Architecture we found there was almost taken over by the Greens. the Clients wanted us to make a livable space on the mezzanine and a shaded cover for uncle to access other spaces in the house
and also becaome a space where someday the doughter could host people if it should become a cafe.
We then did not call ourselves Studio leaf although it feels like there is where it began..
