Heading west, to the vagator beach on a sunny evening just before the sun sets you see the road split in two. The left road rises up with the knoll and curves. As you turn with it you are greeted with two large mango trees and their reciprocity with the terrain on which the Store sits. You will see the sun in the backdrop with tall coconut tress and settled in front is an idea of ayurvedic huts that existed long before clinics and pharmacies. Influenced by the natural context and the productsof the Himalayas, the space is a fusion of the two. The clients were in complete awe of the fresh produce the locals ate from their kitchen gardens in Kashmir and that laid foundation of organic produce and conscious eating. The idea resonated with us as we are in awe of using the materials in its true and pure state. We sourced locally available resources to create an ecological building with materials like laterite, wood, bamboo, coconut leaves and the tropical greens that represent Goa the best. All of this was sourced within 500m of the site. The interiors of the store are minimal which includes hand crafted furniture, which we they were able to craft with the aid of local artisans from Goa. Every piece of furniture has been carefully designed for its respective space in the Store. The clean lines of the furniture, backdrop of mud plaster along with the lushness that it sits in which is exposed by the big windows creates a soothing sight for the eyes that invigorates calmness. One is able to experience this by the interplay between the different characters of the store, namely, the display, seating, storage, reception and landscape..

To display the honey, cumins and mushrooms from the farms of Kasmir, the architects designed shelfs that were inspired by the characteristics of these products. One can notice this with the elongated hexagons in the shelfs for honey. It was made out of carefully crafted elongated pine wood hexagons with a cane mesh in the middle to hold the honey jars. These hexagons rest on long pinewood cylindrical supports that curve along a corner of the Store. The cumin shelving was made using a mango wood plank that they found on site. and cut to suit a corner of the Store. The mushrooms are displayed on beautiful teakwood logs that are chiselled to create a bowl within. The seating, reception and storage area are a play of teak wood and cane furniture that adds to the look ofthe space and flows with our desired theme.
